About Me
My name is Molly Llamas (she/her/ella). I am a first generation, bilingual Latinx Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who is passionate about creating a space for healing hearts and bodies, through authentic connection.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from the University of California, Merced. After graduation, I worked with youth and adolescents doing behavioral therapy and it was through the limitations of this work that I uncovered my desire to be a therapist and work with families in a deeper capacity. I then obtained my Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. Throughout my journey as a bilingual (Spanish speaking) therapist, I have had the opportunity to work with clients in settings such as schools, communities, homes, non-profit organizations, and residential facilities.
Who I am as a therapist
My approach as a therapist includes a multicultural lens that allows me to understand and honor your individual needs through empathy, active listening, and a non-judgmental standpoint. I aim to create safe and affirming spaces that are inclusive of all cultures, races, genders, age, and sexual orientations. I believe you are the expert of your life and our work together is collaborative. I encourage you to be your full authentic self, be challenged, and through curiosity and creativity work towards a healthier present and future.
Why I love what I do
I value creating safety for youth and adolescents by seeing clients in their whole personhood, with their own lived experiences, attributes, and skills, not just for the concerns that bring them to services. It is an honor and privilege to walk with clients in unraveling their life narrative and identifying their strengths and areas of growth. I am passionate about creating spaces where I can continue to advocate and support communities in breaking down barriers to access mental health services. Every client, student, survivor, and being I’ve worked with holds a special place in my heart.
My areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Self-esteem
- Life transitions
- School counseling
- Foster care/ adoptions
- Complex trauma
- Coping skills
- QT+ affirming
- Self exploration and identity
