About Me
From a very early age I knew I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
This desire led me to obtaining my doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My undergraduate work was completed at California State University, Northridge where I double majored in Child Development and Psychology. During undergrad, I became a nanny and began doing behavioral therapy with children with Autism. Through my education and professional experiences I developed a great passion for working with children and their families. I moved to San Diego for graduate school and continued my love of working with children by continuing my work as a nanny and behavioral therapist throughout graduate school. I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) with an emphasis in children and families at Alliant International University, San Diego.
Why I love working with children, teens, and parents
Through internships I was able to broaden my experiences and work with a diverse array of individuals including children, adolescents, families, and adults in a variety of settings. In my work with youths, I enjoy the excitement, joy, and energy they bring and exude, remarkably even when struggling. Adolescence is hard. It is one of the most pivotal times in our lives. It’s a time where you’re developing your own identity, learning about the world and beginning to navigate it on your own. The journey can get bumpy. Walking alongside an adolescent as they embark on their journey guiding, helping, and encouraging them as they navigate their bumpy road is so rewarding and is an honor. Through my experiences I have also developed a passion for working with parents as they navigate the challenges they come across in their parenting journey. Parenting is one of the most difficult important roles one will have. It brings me tremendous joy working together with parents to help empower them and increase their connection with their child(ren). I enjoy teaching the tools, mindsets, and strategies needed to create a positive impact on each parent, their child(ren), marriage, and family system as a whole. I love my work with children, adolescents, adults, and families helping them overcome challenges and assist with major life transitions.
Who I am as a therapist
My therapeutic approach looks to help individuals become more understanding, accepting and compassionate in dealing with themselves and those they love. I incorporate evidence-based approaches that have been shown by research to be effective with certain mental health issues. It is important that each client feels they have a safe space where they can speak freely about their thoughts and feelings and feel heard and understood without judgment. I will hold that space for you and meet you where you are with an open mind and heart. I believe the therapeutic relationship is similar to being teammates. I am on your team, I will walk alongside you in your journey. As your teammate I will support you, challenge you, and encourage you. I will help provide you with insight into your behaviors as well as an understanding of your thought processes and the “tapes” we replay that often provide obstacles to the change you are seeking. I will help you recognize and develop your strengths and provide you with additional tools to help you overcome your struggles. I thoroughly enjoy working alongside my clients, supporting, guiding, and rooting them on as they brave the challenges life can sometimes bring.
