​Hello! I am Abbey and my pronouns are she, her. I am an licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT 152258) and have found myself drawn to working with youth and families.

I was in a military family but raised primarily in San Diego where I received both my bachelor’s degree in child and adolescent development and my master’s degree in clinical counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University. Between my degrees, I worked as a preschool, elementary, and middle school teacher here in the United States and, later, abroad in South Korea. My time in education emphasized the importance of the family system and aided my developing my professional interest in supporting families. My time working in South Korea, specifically, highlighted the importance and my dedication to remain culturally curious and work with folks of other cultures and experiences. After teaching, I obtained my master’s degree in clinical counseling and have been privileged enough to work in a range of environments – school, community-based programs, private practice – supporting youth, families, couples, and college-aged folks.

As a therapist, I am dedicated to collaborative and strength-based care. I welcome you to be your full, authentic self and I am dedicated to creating a space welcoming of all backgrounds and experiences. My approach is one that embraces people of all genders, sexualities, races, cultures, and experiences. Our experiences and backgrounds may vary but the human experience of joy, loss, change, and growth bring us together. Supporting you in wherever you are and whatever is to come is an honor and a privilege I am excited to embrace. When walking through my door, I invite you to bring your full authentic self so that we can work together to learn, grow, and build in a collaborative, caring space.

Being human is messy and beautiful and confusing and everchanging. The memories and experiences that change us and our willingness to get up and try again is why I love my work as a therapist. To walk alongside clients in moments of growth and vulnerability has truly been the joy and privilege of my life. I have been the beneficiary of many therapeutic people that have poured into me and helped me to care for myself. I hope to pass on and care for others in the ways that have helped me to know and care for myself the best way possible.
